CHARLES MOREY (Director) has been Artistic Director of the Pioneer Theatre Company since 1984. He has directed over eighty productions for PTC including, in recent years, the first regional productions of Les Misérables, The Producers, and The Vertical Hour. He is the author of nine plays including adaptations of The Count of Monte Cristo, A Tale of Two Cities, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Dracula and The Three Musketeers; a translation/adaptation from Georges Feydeau, The Ladies Man as well as his original plays Laughing Stock, Dumas’ Camille and The Yellow Leaf. All received their premieres at PTC and most have gone to successful productions at professional theatres across the country including the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Indiana Repertory Theatre, GEVA Theatre Center, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, the Asolo Theatre Company, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis,  Meadow Brook Theatre, Shakespeare and Company, the PCPA Theaterfest, the Peterborough Players, the Connecticut  Repertory Theatre and the Elm Shakespeare Company as well as numerous amateur productions. From 1977 to 1988 he served as Artistic Director of New Hampshire’s Peterborough Players where he directed many world premieres. New York directing credits include productions for the Ark Theatre Company and the Ensemble Studio Theatre. Regionally he has directed for the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Indiana Repertory Theatre, GEVA Theatre Center, Asolo Theatre Company, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, the Meadow Brook Theatre, the American Stage Festival, PCPA Theaterfest and the Utah Shakespearean Festival. He has served as both a panelist and on-site evaluator for the National Endowment for the Arts and on the Board of Trustees of the National Theatre Conference. He received a BA from Dartmouth College and a Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University. He is a Fellow of the MacDowell Colony.

JAMES WOLK (Set Designer) Previous designs for PTC include The Yellow Leaf, The Heiress, Lost in Yonkers, Five Guys Named Moe, The Real Thing, The Mousetrap, Sophisticated Ladies, Present Laughter, A View From the Bridge, Rough Crossing and A Streetcar Named Desire. His designs for Seattle’s 5th Ave. Theatre include Buddy, Company and Yankee Doodle Dandy. NYC designs include The President and Her Mistress, Summer of the Swans at TheatreworksUSA, Pagans at the Abingdon Theatre, Boys’ Life at Lincoln Center and Three Sisters, both directed by William H. Macy. Other designs include This Wonderful Life at Cincinnati Playhouse; A Flea in her Ear, An Ideal Husband and Man and Superman at the St. Louis Rep; Lucky Stiff at Olney Theatre. James was the director for Zona, the Ghost of Greenbrier and Bruno Hauptmann Kissed My Forehead. For the Staedtische Buehnen Augsburg in Germany he designed My Fair Lady and West Side Story, Gypsy at Theater Magdeburg and at the Staatstheatre am Gaertnerplatz (Munich), Funny Girl. He has been nominated for the Helen Hayes, Barrymore, and American Theatre Wing Awards.


CAROL WELLS-DAY (Costume Designer) is one of PTC’s resident costume designers and the costume shop supervisor. Her recent designs for PTC include Dial ‘M’ for Murder, The Light in the Piazza, The Heiress, Doubt, Lost in Yonkers, Pride and Prejudice, James Joyce’s The Dead, The Importance of Being Earnest, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Cyrano de Bergerac, Peter Pan, The Three Musketeers, Joyful Noise, Big River, As You Like It, The Count of Monte Cristo, A Streetcar Named Desire, An Ideal Husband, Misalliance, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Hay Fever. She was assistant designer for Inherit the Wind at the Ford Theatre in Washington D.C. She worked for the Utah Shakespearean Festival for 13 years as a costume shop supervisor and designer. This is Carol’s second tenure at PTC. During her earlier stint she designed over 15 productions, including My Fair Lady, Oliver, and Romeo and Juliet. Carol also has numerous film and TV credits.


DENNIS PARICHY (Lighting Designer) has designed The Light in the Piazza and The Heiress for PTC. He has been designing lighting since 1964, on Broadway (Talley’s Folly, Burn This, The Water Engine and others), Off- and Off-off Broadway and in regional theatres throughout the country. He was Resident Lighting Designer for Circle Repertory Co. for twenty-five years and is currently an Associate Artist at People’s Light & Theatre Co. His most recent designs include Night Must Fall for the Olney Theatre and Nathan the Wise and End Days for People’s Light & Theatre Co. He has just published Illuminating the Play in which he describes his approach to lighting design. He teaches lighting design at Purchase College.


JOE PAYNE (Sound Designer) is in his tenth season as Resident Sound Designer for Pioneer Theatre Company and teaching sound design for the Department of Theatre at the U of U. He has designed sound and/or composed music for more than 100 productions in theatres throughout the country, including Utah Shakespearean Festival (ten years), Indiana Repertory Theatre, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Salt Lake Shakespeare, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, The Virginia Stage Company (four years), Egyptian Theatre Company, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Utah Opera, The Fulton Opera House, and Utah Musical Theater. Joe is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829.


AMANDA FRENCH (Hair and Make-up Designer) has been a Makeup and Hair Designer for over 20 years. She has worked for Utah Shakespearean Festival, The Utah Opera, Egyptian Theatre Company and the University of Texas at Austin. She is a contributing writer in the ninth edition of Stage Makeup by Richard Corson and James Glavan and her work can also be seen in The Costume Technician’s Handbook by Rosemary Ingham and Liz Covey. She attended the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati where she studied with Hair and Makeup designer Lenna Kaleva. She is a member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT).
