2016-2017 Play-by-Play

Welcome to our fourth season!

“Nothing is more important to the long-term vitality of American theatre as an art form than the nurturing of new voices and new work.”
— PTC Artistic Director Karen Azenberg

Play-by-Play is Pioneer Theatre Company’s new play reading series. The series provides developmental rehearsal periods for three new plays, with the playwright working alongside a professional director and cast for a week-long residency. The rehearsals culminate in three public readings of each play, which are available to theatregoers.

The program launched in 2014, and the 2015-2016 season was completely sold out. In order to accommodate larger crowds, the 2016-2017 season will be held at Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA, on the University of Utah Campus) in the Dumke Auditorium.

The upcoming season:

November 11-12, 2016 A Requiem for August Moon by Elyzabeth Wilder

January 27-28, 2017  i by Jeff Talbott

April 14-15, 2017  The Ice Front by Eric Samuelsen

All readings will be held on Fridays at 7:30 pm and on Saturdays at 2:00 and 7:30 pm.
