Andrew Rally is on the top of the world. He’s a big TV star, and has just moved into a ritzy apartment in Manhattan so he can start rehearsals for his New York debut as Hamlet. There’s only one problem—he hates Hamlet—and when the ghost of John Barrymore shows up to help him prepare for the role, he’s in for the ride of his life.

Creative Team

ART MANKE (Director) is a five-time winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and is nationally recognized for his productions of a wide range of classics, musicals and new work. His work has been seen at the Denver Center Theatre Company, South Coast Repertory, Pasadena Playhouse, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Santa Cruz Shakespeare, Mark Taper Forum, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, and American Players Theatre among others. Mr. Manke is a co-founder and former artistic director (1991-2001) of A Noise Within, L.A.’s acclaimed classical theatre company. A frequent guest lecturer at theatre schools across the country, he also directs for television, and holds a B.F.A. from the University of Illinois, and an M.F.A. from the American Conservatory Theatre. He is currently writing a new musical about Pearl Bailey, entitled Pearl’s in the House.


 

CHRISTOPHER DUVAL (Fight Choreographer) Chris is very pleased to be returning to Pioneer Theatre Company, having appeared this season in One Man, Two Guvnors and in last season’sMuch Ado About Nothing. He has worked throughout the country – including 16 years acting, teaching or guest fight-directing at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival where he has played such roles as both of the Dromio’s in Comedy of Errors, Andrew Aguecheek in Twelfth Night,Autolycus in The Winter’s Tale, George Tessman in The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler,among many others. Chris has also worked at such regional theatres as Syracuse Stage, Dallas Theatre Center, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Orange County, Idaho Repertory Theatre, South Coast Repertory, Sacramento Theatre Company, and the Laguna Playhouse. He is on the faculty of the Actor Training Program at the University of Utah, and holds an MFA in Acting from the University of California, Irvine.


 

TOM BUDERWITZ (Scenic Designer) has designed for South Coast Repertory, Center Theatre Group, Geffen Playhouse, Pasadena Playhouse, Goodman Theatre, Berkeley Repertory, The Shakespeare Theatre, Intiman Theatre, Portland Center Stage, Denver Center Theatre Company, Laguna Playhouse, Chautauqua Theater Company, Arizona Theatre Company, San Diego Repertory, Artist Repertory Theatre, The Antaeus Company, Reprise Theatre Company, The Theatre @ Boston Court, P.C.P.A. Theaterfest, Riverside Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre, Rubicon Theatre Company, Rogue Machine, Deaf West Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre LA and A Noise Within, among many others. Tom has been honored with four L.A. Stage Alliance Ovation Awards (26 nominations) and three L.A. Drama Critics Circle Awards. Originally from Canby, Oregon, David now makes his home in Long Beach, California.

JOSHUA C. HIGHT (Sound Designer) A Graduate With Distinction of London’s Alchemea College of Audio Engineering, Joshua comes to us with many years of experience in professional audio systems repair and design, and has established himself as an exceptional live sound engineer in both London and Salt Lake City. Joshua is looking forward to a successful second season working in theater design with Pioneer Theatre Company. His other projects of note include working with Sommerset House for the 2012 Olympic Games, and PTC’s Elf—The Musical, A Few Good Men, Much Ado About Nothing, Deathtrap, Sweet Charity, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Rocky Horror Show, One Man, Two Guvnors, Alabama Story and The Crucible. 


AMANDA FRENCH (Hair and Makeup Designer) has been a Makeup and Hair Designer for over 25 years. She has worked for Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, the Utah Shakespeare Festival, the Utah Opera, Egyptian Theatre Company and the University of Texas at Austin. She is a contributing writer in the tenth edition of Stage Makeup by Corson, Glavan and Norcross, and her work can be seen in The Costume Technician’s Handbook by Ingham and Covey, andWig Making and Styling: A Complete Guide for Theatre and Film by Ruskai and Lowery. She attended the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati where she studied with Hair and Makeup Designer Lenna Kaleva. She is a member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and a current University of Utah adjunct professor of wigs and makeup.


ALEXANDRA HARBOLD (Dramaturg) Previously at PTC, she served as Dramaturg on Of Mice and Men, Assistant Director on Emma, and acted in Hamlet and the Play-By-Play readings ofSlow Food and A Public Education. Harbold is Co-founder and Co-Artistic Director of Flying Bobcat Theatrical Laboratory. Recent projects include acting in Two Stories (Salt Lake Acting Company), FEAST (NOWID, Choreographer Charlotte Boye-Christensen, Playwright Troy Deutsch, & FBTL), and directing The Owl Girl (U of U). Education: Masters, University of London Goldsmiths; BA, Middlebury College; SITI Summer Intensive; and Midsummer at Oxford. Upcoming: directing Twelfth Night for Salt Lake Shakespeare.

Hello Dolly!

SYNOPSIS: Jerry Herman’s energetic Hello, Dolly! is a musical filled with charisma and heart. Matchmaker Dolly Levi is a widow, a matchmaker, and also a professional meddler –but everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is to find someone for herself. Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Hello Dolly! is boisterous and charming from start to finish. Dolly Levi is one of the strongest and richest starring roles for a woman ever written for musical theatre.

LANGUAGE:  A few mild uses of  “damn.”

SMOKING AND DRINKING:  The characters sing of smoking although none is depicted, and wine and champagne are consumed during dinners.
